About the Museum
The Arthur M Sackler Gallery is one of two museums in the Smithsonian Institution dedicated to Asian art. With works from across the continent, the museum holds extensive examples of Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Iranian art, from ancient artefacts to 20th-century works. Highlights include an extensive collection of Chinese jade and bronzes, a selection of modern Japanese ceramics and a range of South Asian sculpture. These are presented alongside temporary exhibitions exploring the rich history of Asian art and the work of contemporary artists from the region.
