About the Museum

The Cultural and Educational pinwheel is an interactive museum located in the Palace of Industries in São Paulo. It opened in 2009 in order to devote oneself to science and its dissemination. The space of 4,000 square meters is divided into 4 sections: "Universe", "Life", "Engenho" and "Society" and has 250 facilities. Aimed at the young public, it was founded by the culture and education secretariats of the municipality, with an investment of 20 million reais after 14 months of construction. Although the museum started operating in 2009, São Paulo City Hall has been discussing the creation of the Catavento Foundation since 2005. The project was only approved in 2006, after a year of processing and an amendment of the original text by the politician Chico Macena, who defended the creation of the Catavento Foundation to create and administer the Children's Museum.
