About the Museum

Created in 1782 in honor of Carlos III, the Colección del Banco de España has an important collection of paintings, constituted by the inheritance of the banks that preceded it and by subsequent acquisitions. Visitors can find works of art from the late fifteenth century to today, including paintings, tapestries, furniture, clocks, numismatics, prints, and architectural plans. Since the second half of the 20th century, the collection has been enriched with new disciplines, such as sculpture and photography.
