Cecil Beaton: Icon of the 20th Century

31 May–19 August 2018

Exhibition Overview

Edith Sitwell

Avant-garde creators, icons of culture, royalty and European aristocracy, Hollywood myths... All of them were immortalized by the camera of Cecil Beaton, the artist who managed to show a stylized and exquisite world, without neglecting his nature more pure and human.

This exhibition includes a wide selection of portraits of the multifaceted photographer, a total of 116, among which are some of the most important characters of the twentieth century that, furthermore, contributed to its transformation: from consecrated artists -mostly from Hollywood -, like Audrey Hepburn or Marlon Brando; great creators turned into icons of culture, like Salvador Dalí or Jean Paul Sartre, and fashion, like Cristobal Balenciaga or Cocó Chanel; and influential and prominent figures of high society, the aristocracy and royalty, such as Queen Elizabeth II of England or The Duke of Alba, James Fitz-James Stuart.
