About the Museum
Opened in 1874, the Groninger Museum is an art museum in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. The museum exhibits modern and contemporary art of local, national, and international artists as well as an extremely varied collection of archaeological finds, portraits of prominent Groningers from past centuries and beautiful examples of regional arts & crafts and applied arts, such as Groningen silver. A great deal of Oriental ceramics, imported from the seventeenth century onwards, survived in the northern Netherlands.
