About the Museum
High in the remote Argentine region of Salta, the spectacular Hess family vineyard at Colomé is home to the only museum in the world dedicated to the major light and space artist James Turrell. Based on a design by Turrell himself, the museum features nine of his immersive light installations. Among them is Unseen Blue (2002), the largest of his Skyspaces, consisting of a chamber with an aperture open to the sky. During sunset, the installation becomes a stunning light show lasting approximately 55 minutes. A South American outpost for the collection of Swiss entrepreneur Donald Hess, the museum also displays works on paper from throughout Turrell’s career. Booking in advance required.
