About the Museum
Known locally as the "lemon squeezer", the magnificent glass dome of the Kunsthalle im Lipsiusbau is one of the most recognisable features of Dresden’s baroque Altstadt (Old Town). Originally constructed in the 19th century, the kunsthalle is today managed by the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and holds exhibitions showcasing 20th and 21st century painting, graphic art and sculpture. Damaged by bombing in 1945, its spectacular restoration and renovation in 2005, by Auer + Weber + Architekten earned the Saxon Union of Architects Architectural Prize.
