About the Museum
The Kunstahus Bregenz in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg is one of the world’s leading galleries for contemporary art, architecture and design. The gallery was designed by the Pritzker prize-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor and stands as a pioneering achievement in architectural minimalism. Fittingly, the Kunsthaus Bregenz’s exhibition programme is focused on contemporary international architecture as well as Austrian contemporary art. The gallery has shaped the cultural life of the Vorarlberg region through a series of innovative location-based outdoor exhibitions including Jenny Holzer’s Truth Before Power (2004) when large format texts were projected onto surrounding buildings, and Anthony Gormley’s Horizon Field (2012) which featured 100 cast-iron life-size figures peppered throughout the surrounding communities.
