About the Museum

Founded in 1995, the Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon (MAC Lyon) is dedicated to work by living artists and is housed in a remarkable building designed by Renzo Piano. The museum opens its doors during temporary exhibitions, placing notable emphasis on the relationship between its collection and exhibitions. MAC Lyon holds a number of monumental works, many of them made in close collaboration with the museum, by artists including Robert Morris and Marina Abramović. It has also staged major monographic exhibitions for Andy Warhol, Erró and others, and hosts the city's contemporary art biennale.
