About the Museum
The Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes is located at the place where, according scholars, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra’s (1547-1616) family home was and where the litterateur was born and spent his early years. The different rooms of the building recreate the customs, tastes and daily activities of the 16th and 17th centuries, with the aim of feeling the presence of their inhabitants. The Museum also has an impressive collection of Cervantes’ works from different periods and in different languages that are exhibited in the temporary exhibition room.
The Museum provides a consolidated programme of activities of many different kinds: children’s and adolescents’ workshops, thematic visits, musical and theatrical performances, conferences, etc. It organizes activities and exhibitions aimed at the wide range of visitors who come daily to the museum: children, young people and adults. Over the course of the year, the museum provides a superb venue for the celebration of every kind of events open to the public such as concerts, stage performances, book launches, lectures and conferences, workshop. The primary goal of this cultural programme is to disseminate the culture of the Spanish Golden Age and to inspire the society with a love of literature and Cervantes’ work.
