Pasajeros 03: John Cage

5 July–19 August 2018

Exhibition Overview

The “Pasajeros” series consists of biographical and documentary-style micro-exhibitions focused on historical figures from abroad who have passed through Mexico and influenced the development of artistic discourse in the country.

The third edition of this series focuses on American composer and theorist John Cage (1912-1992); specifically, his visits to Mexico in 1968 and 1976, and the impact of his work and ideas on the local artistic community during that period. The exhibition will showcase the connections between Cage and Mexican musicians, artists, and writers, and some of the work they produced inspired, and sometimes instigated, by him.
