About the Museum

Turin’s Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano (National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento), located in the Palazzo Carignano, is a history museum dedicated to 19th-century Italian unification (the Risorgimento). Its collection includes weapons, flags, uniforms, documents, and works of art that detail the Risorgimento from the perspectives of Turin, the Piedmont region, and Italy.

The museum was established shortly after Italian unification in 1878 and moved to its current location, which once housed the Subalpine and Italian Chambers of Deputies, in 1938. The Museum also offers a library and historical archives that feature a large collection of single issues from nineteenth-century Italian periodicals.
