About the Museum
Museu da Imagem e do Som’s trajectory mirrored the transformations through which Brazilian and international cultures went through. Today, when technology comes together with human sensitivity in artistic creation, and institutions adjust to social demands, the museum affirms itself as a space that brings memory and contemporaneity, technical investigation and widening of access to art innovation to lively dialogue.
Since 2011, MIS has been under the command of executive director André Sturm, who has brought a new plan of activities in his term. Museu da Imagem e do Som has become a meeting space for the population of São Paulo, where the plurality of artistic and cultural options prevail. An increase of almost 70 per cent in visitors, as well as ample publicity of our schedule in the media in general proves that the museum once again has a prominent place in the cultural scene.
