About the Museum

The Museu de Relógio Prof. Dimas de Melo Pimenta is the only one of its kind in Latin America and has existed since 1975. With a rich collection of rarities of watchmaking and items of great technical and historical value, it is certainly a journey back in time, full of interesting knowledge. Among the 650 pieces, stand out curious models such as the "Alarm clock with coffee maker", a trend of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and one of the most beloved items of the collection that has a mechanism like Italian coffee, and prepares a cup of the delicacy minutes before awakening. It is precisely the weight of the full cup, which triggers the bell; a remarkable clock of the collection is the German "Speaker", whose innovative character is the existence of a phonograph with celluloid media; another highlight is the "Atomic Clock", which adopts the most advanced technique in time measurement, whose measurement standard is the vibration of Cesium-133 molecules; the most varied models and the beautiful cuckoos.
