About the Museum

Publisher Frieder Burda began collecting art seriously following the death of his father in 1986. He was attracted to the colour and emotional qualities of painting which resulted in a highly personal collection of works by a select number of German and international artists. The museum built to house the collection in Baden-Baden was designed by New York architect Richard Meier and now holds an extensive programme of temporary exhibitions designed to complement and display the range of works and movements, from German expressionism to postmodernism.
