About the Museum

On 14 September 1999, the new building of Museum Het Valkhof was opened at the Kelfkensbos. Since then, the museum has managed to attract an average of between 75,000 and 100,000 visitors per year. Highlights in the exhibition program have included exhibitions about Jan Toorop (2003), Shinkichi Tajiri (2004), the Limburg Brothers (2005) and Herculaneum (2006-2007). Museum Het Valkhof has now acquired a very special place among Dutch museums. The merger of a large archaeological collection and collections in the field of old art and modern art gives the museum its own signature.
