Established in 2003, the National Museum of China is located on Tiananmen Square in Beijing and aims to educate the public and the art and history of China. It is one of the world’s largest museums and holds the collection of two former museums, the Museum of the Chinese Revolution and the National Museum of Chinese History. The museum holds a permanent collection of 1,050,000 objects that cover Chinese history from the Yuanmou Man of 1.7 million years ago to the end of the Qing Dynasty. The museum also holds an important numismatic collection with over 15,000 coins. A permanent exhibition, The Road to Rejuvenation, details the political history of the country.
