National Visual Arts Gallery, Malaysia

The National Visual Arts Gallery (Malaysia) is a public art gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that highlights Malaysian art. It held its first exhibition in 1958. It started with the donation of only four works of art, but today has over 2,500 works in its permanent collection. Its goal is to support Malaysian artists through local and international exhibitions. In addition to its exhibitions it hosts art competitions, seminars and workshops for art practitioners and students as well as numerous art-related events. The gallery is situated along Jalan Tun Razak and neighbors the National Library and National Theater. Architecturally, the building references traditional Malay design with contemporary lines. It has over 13,000 square feet of exhibition space.
