Exhibition Overview

Striking portraits and nude studies of leading international athletes form the basis of Champions, an eighty-print photography project created by the British artists Anderson & Low to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

By depicting renowned athletes at peak physical condition, without clothes, the artists seek to celebrate individual achievement while capturing the potential vulnerability of all people. The subjects for the portraits are drawn internationally from a range of sporting disciplines and include tennis greats Billie Jean King and Venus Williams, as well as football player Terrell Owens, footballer Thierry Henry, sprinter Juliet Campbell, triathlete Tim DeBoom, skater John Dunn, swimmer Michelle Englesman, and rugby player Matt Dawson.
