About the Museum
Sharjah Heritage Museum first opened its doors in 2005 in the Heritage Area. It was renovated and re-opened in 2012 in Bait Saeed Al Taweel Al Shamsi in the Heart of Sharjah.
The museum is dedicated to highlighting Sharjah’s authentic heritage and the rich culture of Emirati people and Sharjah residents over the past decades. It also emphasizes the value of the deep rooted Arabic customs and traditions which are a legacy from the region's ancestors and a source of pride and joy for coming generations.
This museum provides its visitors with a broad idea of the diverse environments starting from the marine and coastal environments to the mountainous and agricultural ones. These environments reflect traditional Emirati lifestyles, habits and crafts. The Museum also highlights authentic Arab traditions including warm hospitality, celebrations, and marriage ceremonies. In addition, the museum presents folk tales, proverbs and puzzles to entertain children and help them learn in an insightful and interesting atmosphere.
