About the Museum

Sotheby’s New York office is the headquarters for the global business as well as a place that welcomes collectors and art lovers from around the world. More than 85 live auctions take place annually in the seventh-floor saleroom, where records are routinely broken and history is made.

Located within the headquarters, S|2 is Sotheby’s Contemporary art gallery, offering year-round exhibition programming and bespoke private sales. With dedicated gallery space in New York, London and Hong Kong, S|2 presents selling exhibitions exploring the work of celebrated artists, such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, and Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, as well as shows curated by influential art world figures like Vito Schnabel.

Art lovers are always welcome to visit the numerous presale exhibitions and S|2 gallery shows, which are free and open to the public. In addition, Sotheby's New York invites visitors to enjoy the in-house branch of Sant Ambroeus for coffee, pastries or lunch.

Open Monday through Saturday and located just inside the main lobby is Sotheby’s Wine Store, which stocks a superb selection of vintages at all price points. For those in search of an elegant ring or statement earrings, Sotheby’s Diamonds salon features a range of exceptional contemporary designs curated with unrivaled expertise.
