About the Museum
The Amsterdam Museum, until 2011 called the Amsterdams Historisch Museum, is a museum about the history of Amsterdam. Housed in a historic building that served as a civic orphanage, the museum tells the story of Amsterdam through its large collection of art and artifacts that span from Medieval times to the present. The museum possesses over 70,000 objects and artifacts that include paintings, models, archaeological findings, and photographs as well as original furnishings from the city orphanage.
