Espace Jean Tinguely - Niki de Saint-Phalle

About the Museum

The immense wave of sympathy that Jean Tinguely had brought to life at the end of his life led his wife Niki de Saint Phalle to offer the State of Friborg some of the monumental works Tinguely created. After the death of the artist in 1991, the Council of State proposed the creation of a museum dedicated to his work. To do this, the City of Friborg ceded the former tramway hangar. The "Espace Jean Tinguely - Niki de Saint Phalle" Foundation was created in 1995 to carry out the renovation of the building and to create and maintain a space dedicated to the works of the two artists. The inauguration took place in 1998.
