Occupying what was one of Germany’s first railway terminals, the Hamburger Bahnhof is a leading cultural institution known for its extensive collection of international contemporary art and innovative exhibition program. Picking up where Berlin’s 20th century art museum, the Neue Nationalgalerie, leaves off, the collection spans work made from 1960 to the present across a range of media, including painting, sculpture, photography and film, by modern and contemporary masters such as Joseph Beuys, Andreas Gursky, Gerhard Richter and Cy Twombly. Immersive artists’ rooms by John Cage, Bill Viola, Rebecca Horn and Marcel Broodthaers among others are also highlights.
