About the Museum
Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art (Leeum Museum) opened in 2004, which has strived to preserve cultural heritage and share it with the public under the efforts of the Samsung Foundation of Culture that was established in 1965. Nestled in buildings in Hannam-dong that were newly constructed for the museum, Leeum Museum has now grown into one of the leading museums of Korea. It accomplishes this through notable activities, including exhibitions of its highly-regarded collections and special exhibitions.
Leeum Museum is an open museum where traditional art, embodying the beauty of Korea, contemporary art, representing the energy of our times, and international art, reflecting current values coexist. Leeum Museum wishes to become an institution of convergence where people consider the future based on understanding of the past and the present, as well as where culture is enjoyed collectively through active communications.
