Geometric abstraction is much more than the result of the scrutiny of the formal possibilities of geometry. In the practice of modern and contemporary artists, it is constituted as a field of thought through which numerous material and conceptual researches are developed. Space configurations, compositional systems, optical dynamics, combinatory effects, chromatic modulations, the construction and deconstruction of visuals and forms, material and contextual reflections, are some of the interests that have guided these researches. These explorations are not yet finished, and contribute to the vitality manifested by abstraction still today.
This exhibition highlights the value of geometry as a research tool through a selection of works belonging to the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires - Aldo Rubino Foundation. Paintings, photographs, installations, kinetic and light artworks, sculptures, videos and site-specific interventions account for the plurality of these works and their potential to channel the most diverse analytical paths.
