About the Museum
Inaugurated on July 30, 1965, the Banespa Museum (today the Santander Banespa Museum) was founded on the objective to preserve the institution's memory, and also to preserve its accumulated artistic heritage over the decades. The evolution of the bank's logo, period furniture, mechanical equipment, accounting books, historical documents, coins, old banknotes, among other curiosities, are exhibited alongside paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures by great Brazilian artists. Some important works have been donated or used for the settlement of debts. Currently, the Santander Banespa Museum occupies part of the 2nd and 3rd floors of a historic building in the center of the city, the Altino Arantes Building, the second highest in the city.
