About the Museum


The Museum of the City of São Paulo (Museu da Cidade) is located in buildings of historical and architectural interest, distributed by the urban network of the municipality. Currently, its architectural collection is composed of the Solar da Marquesa da Santos, Beco do Pinto, House No. 1 / Casa da Imagem, Casa do Bandeirante, House of the Sertanista, Chapel of Morumbi, House of Tatuapé, Sítio da Ressaca, Sítio Morrinhos, House of the Scream, Monument to the Independence, Modernist House and Chácara Lane. The museum is also responsible for a very important photographic collection about the city. The historical museum, which presents scenarios that contributed to building the bandeirista imaginary, went through several questions and transformations and became a city museum that acts in a network, dedicated to promote reflection and awareness about the municipality of São Paulo by means of the safeguarding, research and communication of its historical and architectonic collections and of the most diverse patrimonial references of São Paulo.
