Cy Twombly: In the Studio

Exhibition Overview

Peonies (Bassano in Teverina)

Cy Twombly returns with a new presentation on the upper floor of the Museum Brandhorst. With a retrospective selection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs from the early 1950s to a painting from Twombly's latest work series, which he completed shortly before his death in 2011. Twombly has the place where his Works, have acquired a central importance during his life. His photographs, in particular, are often based on the process and location of his paintings and sculptures. In addition, many shots contain references to situations and objects - from nature photography, still life to visits to flea markets or cemeteries - that inspired Twombly's works.
