Berlin’s Museum für Fotografie is home to the Helmut Newton Foundation which holds regular exhibitions of the German photographer’s work alongside that of his contemporaries. The second floor of the neoclassical building is dedicated to the Kunstbibliothek’s Collection of Photography which presents a series of rotating exhibitions that explore the medium of photography in all its protean forms. When it was built in 1909 the building served as a casino for the Prussian officer corps of the Berlin Landwehr division and contained a restaurant, guest rooms, several ballrooms (now an exhibition hall), and even a bowling alley and target range.
