Within its global permanent collection, the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) explores contemporary connections among the worlds of art, design and craft from 1950 to the present day. The museum pinpoints the ways in which international artists and designers transform materials through processes ranging from the artisanal to the digital. Its exhibition program explores and illuminates issues and ideas, highlights invention and craftsmanship and celebrates the unlimited potential of materials and techniques in the hands of gifted and innovative artists. Especially exciting are the three open studios each year, which give visitors a window into the creative processes of artists at work.
