About the Museum


Founded in 1903, the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, Connecticut is the first museum in the country dedicated to American art. Its collection includes colonial portraits, nineteenth-century still life works, American Impressionist art, post-Civil War figural painting and sculpture and contemporary art holdings by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Sol LeWitt, Chuck Close, Dan Flavin, Eva Hesse and Graydon Parrish.
