Theodoor van Loon: Un Peintre Caravagesque Entre Rome et Bruxelles (A Caravagesque painter between Rome and Brussels)

Exhibition Overview

Marteldood van de H. Lambertus

Theodoor van Loon was one of the first painters in southern Netherlands to be influenced by the art of Caravaggio. Like his contemporary Rubens, Van Loon developed an intense and original style, inspired throughout his life by Italian masters. This exhibition will allow the audience to enter for the first time in contact with the work of this atypical artist. Through books, drawings, engravings and paintings, the show takes a new look at the historical context in which the artist lived.
