Pera Museum

Istanbul | Turkey

Gateway to the Ottoman Empire and beyond

Inaugurated in 2005, the Pera Museum is a private museum founded by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation and housed in the impressive neoclassical building once home to the Bristol Hotel. The museum collaborates annually with national and international institutions of art and education to hold exhibitions that support young artists. The museum is celebrated for its collections of Orientalist paintings, with works ranging from the 17th to 20th centuries; Anatolian weights and measures, with nearly 10,000 objects dating from 2,000 BC to the present; and Kütahya tiles and ceramics from the 18th to 20th centuries. Parallel to its seasonal programs and events, Pera Film offers a wide range of screenings alongside special shows directly correlated with themes from the temporary exhibitions.
