About the Museum
The mission of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art is to integrate art into the lives of people, igniting imagination, stimulating thought, and generating personally rewarding experiences through art. The museum comprises 27,000 works of art spanning more than 5,000 years of human creativity, including classical antiquities, masterpieces of French Impressionism and a collection of Latin American Art. The Santa Barbara Museum of Art has brought world-renowned exhibitions to Santa Barbara, and has originated exhibitions that have travel to museums across the Americas and Europe. It welcomes 150,000 visitors per year and provides education programs to over 40,000 people in Santa Barbara County each year.
