About the Museum

The Skulpturhalle Basel is a museum in Basel, Switzerland, featuring a collection of plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures. The collection is the largest of its kind in the country, including over 2,200 copies of statues from museums all over the world. The Skulpturhalle Basel is world famous for its complete assemblage of the architectural sculpture of the Athens Parthenon.

Originally a teaching collection for the university, it was placed under the auspices of the Antikenmuseum when the museum was founded in 1961. Between 1985 and 2010, the collection tripled in size.
