About the Museum

Part of the Palazzo Pitti, the Tesoro dei Granduchi (formerly the Museo degli Argenti) comprises a vast collection of objects in gold, silver, crystal and ivory as well as a selection of cameos and jewellery owned by the great Medici family. The collection begins with antiquities gathered by Lorenzo il Magnifico and continues through to the Renaissance and beyond with large rooms dedicated to oriental porcelain. The museum is situated in the summer apartments of the Medici family, which feature grand frescos and ornate decoration.
