The David Museum’s internationally important collection of Islamic art is one of the largest in northern Europe, ranging from the 9th to the 19th century; from Spain in the west to China in the east, and from Uzbekistan in the north to Yemen in the south. Representing the private collection of Danish businessman C. L. David, the museum also holds fine and applied art from 18th-century Europe and the 19th century Danish Golden Age, as well as a smaller collection of early Danish modern art. The museum's neoclassical building underwent extensive refurbishment, reopening in 2009.
