About the Museum
The Story of Berlin is the adventure museum of the capital. Here, visitors embark on an exciting walk through 800 years of Berlin history. In 23 theme rooms - each individually designed, walkable and equipped with modern multimedia technology - the everyday world of Berlin's population can be experienced by everyone. A highlight is the tour through an original nuclear bunker under the Kurfürstendamm, which still today can provide protection for 3,592 people in an emergency.
The museum opened on June 24, 1999. The designers - museum educators, historians and artists - have created scenes that combine emotional experience with factual information. It is a private museum that carries itself and manages without state funding.
