About the Museum

Part of the National Museums Liverpool, World Museum has extensive collections covering archaeology, ethnology and the natural and physical sciences. Special attractions include the Natural History Centre and the planetarium-- the first in the United Kingdom outside of London. World Museum is the oldest of the museums and galleries operated by National Museums Liverpool. It first opened in March of 1853 in the Ropeworks district of Liverpool, and it moved to its present site on William Brown Street in 1860.
